Actor Refutes Anti-Vaccine Position Following Voicing Disputed Coronavirus Documentary
The "Taken" star has provided his vocal talents to a feature-length documentary that casts doubt on the efficacy of vaccinations and praises former cabinet secretary RFK Jr.
The Film's Disputed Foundation
Named "Plague of Corruption," the film is based on a well-known publication co-authored by a disgraced researcher, who gained notoriety during the health crisis for claims that Covid was linked to a faulty batch of the seasonal immunization.
The book's writing partner, a producer, has penned books with far-right figure Alex Jones. Heckenlively wrote online celebrating Neeson's role in the documentary.
A Strong Statement
Representatives for Neeson have released a statement firmly refuting implications that he holds anti-immunization views.
"We all recognize that corruption can exist within the pharmaceutical industry, but that must not be confused with opposition to vaccines," the comment reads. "He is not, and cannot be described as, against vaccines. His considerable work with Unicef reinforces his enduring support for worldwide vaccination initiatives."
The response noted that the star had no hand in the documentary's narrative and that concerns about its content should be directed to the producers.
Major Assertions Within the Film
In the film, the narration provided by Neeson features several controversial claims:
- It claims that pro-vaccine voices have insisted on "unconditional submission" to health authorities.
- It argues that "research has become deeply influenced by politics."
- Robert F Kennedy Jr is shown claiming, "The core flaw with vaccines is that they simply are not safely tested."
- The film takes aim at pandemic restrictions, arguing they caused psychological harm that resulted in thousands of lives.
- On the topic of the immunizations, it cites a perspective that they were "hurriedly approved" and seen as "risky trials."
Past Controversy and Current Issues
The documentary also references a past television report about HIV drug testing on children, which was afterwards the focus of a correction by the broadcaster for violations of guidelines.
Last month, Kennedy instructed the Centers for Disease Control to change its official position that there is no connection between vaccines and autism. This claim is repeated in the film, despite a recent study from the WHO stating no evidence has been found.
An Earlier Statement of Advocacy
Standing in contrast to the documentary's message, Neeson has previously shown firm endorsement for vaccines in his role as a charity ambassador.
Previously, he described vaccines as "a remarkable achievement," noting that "The conversation about vaccines in recent years has overlooked how much good they have done... It is perhaps one of the biggest human endeavors in our history."
"Plague of Corruption" concludes with Neeson's script proclaiming, "This is not the conclusion of our narrative. Rather, it is the beginning of a new chapter."
