Football Expert Chris Sutton Faces Off Against Artist Murs in Premier League Predictions

Arsenal's ten-match victorious streak was ended by the Black Cats before the global break, but will the Premier League frontrunners bounce back against north London rivals Spurs this Sunday?

"{I believe like Arsenal are light years ahead of Tottenham currently but Spurs manager Thomas Frank will have a plan for this match," remarked soccer expert Chris Sutton.

"The Spurs manager will try to neutralize Arsenal, who have not always been at their sparkling best this season - but Mikel Arteta's team typically still find a way to win."

Sutton is forecasting results for all 380 Premier League games this season, against artificial intelligence, fans and a variety of guests.

In week 12, he faces singer Olly Murs, who is a Manchester United supporter.

The singer's new album, Knees Up, is out on the weekend.

Soccer and Family Experiences

Murs is a talented footballer as well as a successful singer and has been a star of several Soccer Aid games over time - but he is not planning a professional comeback as a footballer.

"{I actually played in a benefit game the other evening for a mate of mine," he said. "The side was losing 3-1 when I was substituted in the second half, and they proceeded to win 4-3, so you can read into that what you will!

"I still love football, but I hurt my joint a few years ago and it still isn't where I want it to be. I hope I could play more but the uncertainty of the sport means it's too dangerous for me in my career to do it seriously again.

"Plus I am 41 now, and we are not everyone is Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very content not playing football and I am gearing up for the moment that my child or boy decides to play instead."

The singer and his spouse Amelia Tank have two children, their daughter and their son, and he is ready to follow in his father's footsteps by taking on the role of their manager.

"I won't force football on our children but I've already told Amelia that if they do get the bug for it then I will have to go and get my coaching badges - and I will likely be coaching their Saturday soccer team," he said.

"I observed my relatives play a lot, and I really got into it, and I obviously owned a football club for a period too.

"My father did it with us when I was a kid, which is likely where I get it from. He coached our team for two or three seasons and had great fun with it. That could be the future for me as well, and I am looking forward to it!"

Top Division Predictions

Weekend, 22 November

  • Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT

The Blues may have to wait a bit longer for Cole Palmer's comeback from fitness issues but their attack is now more potent with Joao Pedro and Liam Delap both back fit.

I still think this game will be fairly tight, though. The Clarets are disciplined and their only at Turf Moor losses so far have been against the Reds and Arsenal.

This smells of a one-all draw to me, but I am in fact going to choose Chelsea to win narrowly for what would be their third consecutive Premier League win in a row.

Sutton's prediction: 1-2

Olly's pick: The Blues will be too strong. 1-3

Artificial intelligence's outlook: 0-2

  • Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT

Bournemouth have been defeated in their past two matches - although both of them were on the road - but they got thoroughly beaten by Villa last time out which surprised me.

In contrast, West Ham won two in a row before the international break and, although both of those games were at their stadium, they appear competitive again.

West Ham's only on the road win this season came at Forest in August, when West Ham manager Nuno Espirito Santo was still Forest coach.

So, what on earth do I predict here - can West Ham continuing their run under Nuno, or Bournemouth bouncing back?

I am going to go with Bournemouth, because I think what happened against Villa was a anomaly.

The pundit's prediction: 2-0

Olly's prediction: The home team are performing strongly but the visitors have improved under their boss. 2-2

AI's pick: 1-1

  • Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT

The Bees were considered one of the favourites for the drop before the season began, but they have surprised a few people under Keith Andrews and are in good form with three wins in their past four matches.

A family member told me to get Brentford striker Thiago in my fantasy soccer team a few weeks back and, guess what, I didn't listen.

The forward will likely score again on the weekend but I am still not going to select him or back the away side at Brighton's ground.

The Bees have not had much fortune on the road this season, and Brighton are consistently strong at their stadium. The visitors will try to attack on the break but I think Fabian Hurzeler's team carry much more of a threat.

Sutton's prediction: 2-1

The singer's prediction: This could be one of those games where you expect there is going to be a many goals but it actually turns out to be rather close. 1-1

AI's prediction: 2-1

  • Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT

It is a massive game for the Cottagers, who have suffered defeat in five of their past six matches.

Fulham have have plenty of quality in their team but it still feels like they could be dragged into a drop zone battle.

Regarding the Black Cats, indeed they are the unexpected success of the Premier League campaign so far.

The away side's display in the 2-2 tie with the Gunners last time out was superb. We've not seen any other team disrupt the Gunners like that this term, and they were more than a match for them.

The logical choice to do to support the visitors here, because they are clearly capable of disrupting Fulham up too and, the previous occasion they were in this part of London, they defeated Chelsea at the end of last month.

But I am not going to choose that. Rather, I really need to carry on going against the away team with my forecasts. I am taking a lot of credit for their good outcomes because they clearly enjoy to defy my predictions.

Looking at the home side's at Craven Cottage form, the only team they have been defeated by is the league leaders. Marco Silva's side will be extremely eager for a good outcome, so I am going to predict they will secure three much-needed points.

Sutton's prediction: 1-0

The guest's choice: I know the visitors are performing strongly and additionally that the hosts are on a bad run... but they have nonetheless been decent at home this season. 2-0

AI's outlook: 2-0

  • Anfield, 15:00 GMT

This is a hard fixture to call. The Reds have suffered seven of their last ten games in every tournament, but might they be among the sides who benefit from the {international break|
