Former BBC Specialists Undergo Parliamentary Questioning Following Assertions of Partiality in Unauthorized Memo
We begin with queries from Conservative lawmaker Caroline Dinenage, that chairs the panel.
She commences by providing background to the leaked document prepared by Michael Prescott and printed in the Telegraph.
"I don't want the British Broadcasting Corporation leaning in any particular direction, I simply desire it straight, fair and fair," he declares.
Upon being questioned if he thinks the British Broadcasting Corporation is systematically partial, Prescott replies: "No, I do not. It is important to note, a great deal the British Broadcasting Corporation produces is top-tier - including informative and entertainment programming."
But he adds: "There exists real work that must be undertaken at the British Broadcasting Corporation."
Another previous consultant British Broadcasting Corporation adviser questioned by the committee, Caroline Daniel, says she views the British Broadcasting Corporation extremely earnestly and that it has a "ongoing system and active debate" across evolving and intricate subjects.
"Was the BBC prepared to have a proper dialogue and debate and act accordingly?" she questions. "As I see it, yes they were."
