Jurgen Klopp says coming back to coach Liverpool is plausible in theory.

Jurgen Klopp, who left Anfield in 2024, remarked that a future comeback remains an option. Klopp, following a hugely successful nine-year spell that included continental glory and the Reds’ first league title for three decades, has since taken on roles as head of global soccer for Red Bull and as an advisor to Germany's league body.

Supporters’ Hopes and His Frank Comments

Liverpool won the league title in the previous campaign, yet numerous supporters holding him in high esteem would be thrilled by the idea that he may eventually return. In a wide-ranging interview, he told his interviewer: “I stated I refuse to lead any other side on English soil. Which implies if then it’s Liverpool...yeah. It's plausible.”

“At 58 years old, that means I might decide down the line, it's uncertain. Must I choose now? Then I will not coach again. Fortunately, I don’t have to do that. I'll wait and observe what lies ahead.”

What Would Lure Him Back?

Pressed on which situations would have to unfold to draw him back to management, Klopp admitted he was not instantly drawn to such a return. “It's unclear to me, I love what I do right now,” he said. “I don’t miss coaching; I don’t miss standing under bad weather through long matches; No need for media briefings four times, three times a week or doing numerous chats weekly.

“No nostalgia for the changing area as a dressing room, however, dining out with the team having a nice chat, is pleasant. With many victories meaning regularly a very good mood in the building. I still have the captain's chuckle vividly recalled as an instance.”

Praise for His Successor

Klopp was full of praise of the current boss, crediting him due to the changes which secured the championship last term. Liverpool have lost four consecutive matches across various tournaments following significant transfers, though he denied the suggestion it could be the start of a downward turn.

“[Liverpool have] an incredible striker in Flo[rian] Wirtz, doubters will be silenced with negative comments. He’s an incredible talent. The French striker, incredible player. This is a well-built balanced team. No need for concern about Liverpool, they'll bounce back.”

Heartfelt Words for the Late Forward

He shared movingly on the loss of the Portuguese star, whom he brought in while in charge, and the effect for the team. Jota was killed in a road accident together with his sibling this past summer.

“Who can fill the void of a person like him? It goes beyond his on-field talent, it’s the guy he was. It's hard to picture the dressing room absent his presence. I find it difficult to discuss on this topic. A profound tragedy for his teammates too. No one within the club would cite it for poor performances though it's a fact. You walk in a dressing room where his spirit remains. Handling this on a personal level is difficult. Unbearable.”
