Man Who Reached For Ariana Grande on the occasion of Movie Premiere Banned from Singapore
An individual of Australian nationality who vaulted past a barrier and touched celebrity Ariana Grande has been deported and prohibited from Singapore.
The man, 26, was handed a penalty to nine days in detention for being a public nuisance and has now been "prohibited from returning to Singapore," the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority told local media.
Wen pushed past photographers and approached aggressively the celebrity, who was attending the Asian debut for Wicked: For Good on the thirteenth of November. Co-performer Cynthia Erivo pulled him back from Grande.
Wen has a history of causing disturbances at events and star-studded occasions, including jumping on stage at the pop star's Australian show in June this year.
The occurrence sparked outrage in Singapore, with many saying he of causing further distress to the star.
The singer has discussed experiencing post-traumatic stress disorder after a suicide bomb attack at her show in the UK city in several years ago resulted in the deaths of 22 people and hurt numerous attendees.
In the legal process, the court heard he had attempted to intrude on the red carpet event twice, according to Singaporean media.
He then made a another effort to jump the barricades. Protection personnel stopped him and pinned him down.
He then uploaded recordings expressing gratitude to the star for permitting his access and said he was "free."
Authorities arrested him the subsequent day and accused him with causing a disturbance, to which he confessed.
The Presiding Judge the judicial official was referenced by a news outlet as saying that Wen was "attention seeking", commenting that he was incorrect to assume he would not suffer any consequences.
The singer has not spoken about the incident.
Erivo discussed the incident to a media outlet, stating that she "only aimed to ensure my co-star was protected."
"I believe he had no intention to us danger, but you never know with such situations, and I aimed to ensure that she was OK. That was my first instinct," she commented.
