Recent Particulars Emerge About the Discovery of the Reiner Couple's Bodies

New information has come to light concerning the shocking passing of renowned film director Rob Reiner and artist Michele Singer Reiner, whose bodies were found at their Brentwood, Los Angeles home on Sunday.

The Initial Report

A source indicates citing a person close to the family, a therapist scheduled for an session was the first to notice something was wrong after not being able to enter the house. The therapist then contacted the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who resides in the vicinity.

When she went into the residence, Romy found her father's body. Accounts indicate she then fled the house in anguish, without knowing at that moment that her mother's body was also present. Another individual who had accompanied her promptly called 911. Following this, paramedics discovered Michele Singer Reiner's body.

Legal Developments

Authorities have formally accused the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with two counts of first-degree murder, along with the use of a dangerous weapon, reportedly a knife. He is now being held without bail.

Correcting the Record

The anonymous source questioned several earlier details. They said that while Romy Reiner informed emergency responders that her brother Nick lived in a detached unit on the estate, she did not identify him as a suspect at that moment.

The source also refuted circulated notions that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been unusually "apprehensive" about Nick's conduct in recent weeks. Rather the family was "familiar with working through [Nick's] problems together."

The statement also extends to accounts of alleged "unpredictable" behavior by Nick at a gathering held by Conan O'Brien the evening prior to the discovery. Although the source said they were unable to confirm whether Rob had "chastised" his son at the party, they said that reports of a "major confrontation" between the two were inaccurate.

Investigation Details

According to law enforcement officials, the medical examiner had still not confirmed at that point whether the Reiners died late on Saturday or on Sunday. Some media reports indicated the condition of their bodies implied they had been dead for some hours.

Nick Reiner was arrested at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the Exposition Park, roughly 15 miles from the family home. He was due to appear in court on Tuesday, but his attorney, Alan Jackson, indicated his client had a medical issue and would not appear until Wednesday or later.
