The Mighty Nein's Introductory Sequence Selected the Incorrect Popular RPG Show Track
The Mighty Nein, the newest animated adventure by Critical Role, revealed a new introductory sequence. It showcases our favorite group of outcasts, outcasts, and rogues fighting hard and taking names, while also hinting at multiple heart-wrenching personal histories for key figures such as the voice actor's mage Caleb, and another actor's warlock orc, Fjord.
Overall, the opening appears stunning. But I couldn't help feeling that something was missing in the music selection.
The intro employs "Welcome to the Continent", an exceptional composition composed by artist the talented musician. It's a track from the soundtrack album of that title, the second release released by the production company's music division their music brand. It's a wonderful sentimental option, and I believe that fans of the sequel series will appreciate its inclusion.
But for me, The series' opening fails to capture the excitement and excitement that accompanied the second campaign's actual-play adventure. "It's Your Turn", composed by singer-songwriter Jason Charles Miller, was an instant classic in my view when it was initially unveiled in 2015, and it only got better when co-founder the performer wrote words to the melody for the series' animated intro in 2018.
Featuring vocals from one actress, Laura Bailey, a co-star, as well as Riegel himself, the song was catchy and enjoyable. At the time, I hadn't even watched the second campaign at that point, but this was such an earworm that I kept it on my phone. This track that knows how to get you pumped before you start an episode of fantasy hijinks.
The show's intro with "Welcome to Wildemount" fails to hit the same chords for me. It's an impressive composition, but from what I know of the group, I can't help but feel that its tone is somewhat mismatched.
Of course, Critical Role has stated that the animated show will have some changes and variations from the actual-play campaign. An adjusted mood for its opening seems to be one of them.
The Mighty Nein will be available to watch on the streaming service from November 19. For those eager before that, or wish to prepare to get to know the personas of the second series, the original episodes are accessible on Spotify and YouTube.
