The Renowned Musician Encourages Backing to Get Palestinian Solidarity Lullaby to UK Holiday Chart Peak.

A charity drive is aiming to propel a traditional song from Palestine to the peak of the festive singles chart. The effort hopes to provide aid to communities in Gaza while also highlighting Palestinian cultural expression.

An Opportunity for Unity and an "Chart Upset"

Composer and producer Brian Eno, who features on the track, stated that the release called 'Lullaby' represents a moment to stand with Palestinians this festive season. He acknowledged the potential for an unexpected chart success.

“It would be incredible if that came to pass, yes,” he commented. “I wouldn't be completely let down if it fails to, festive releases are a category of their own.”

Defiant Message of Freedom and Dignity

Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who features in the reimagining of a folk song called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the track's defiant core message.

“The song holds a very special place for countless listeners,” Barghouti shared. “The message is that I would rather die in dignity than exist without freedom. That’s the main theme of the song; we desire to exist a dignified life that we are entitled to as Palestinians.”

Recording Origins and Star-Studded Lineup

The song was recorded after a large-scale benefit event held in September. Originally intended to be performed and recorded live, the piece was cut from the show due to time constraints.

The diverse array of artists appearing on Lullaby encompasses a range of prominent voices from the industry. All were part of the earlier concert, which reportedly raised a substantial amount for relief efforts.

Creation and Launch

Lullaby was crafted by a group of producers and composers. The single blends a combination of the traditional Arabic lyrics with contemporary English verses.

The organizers behind the project have stated that their aim is to collect the highest amount for a specific fund. These resources will be distributed to Palestinian causes through an partnering humanitarian organization.

“There is no a fixed goal,” a spokesperson explained. “We will pursue the maximum achievable. Obviously, the greater the amount, the better. All proceeds are directed out to Gaza.”

The situation in the territory was characterized as its widespread damage, with a huge proportion of buildings said to be levelled or seriously harmed.

“In that context, a few million is unlikely to make that much difference. But I think what does make a difference is primarily raising awareness for this issue and proving the human dimension of the story.”

The single 'Lullaby' is scheduled for release this Friday. Additionally, a full recording of the solidarity show will be made ready to watch on a digital service from later in the month.
