Toronto Blue Jays Secure Fall Classic Matchup Against the Dodgers

George Springer celebrating

Springer was instrumental for the Houston Astros claiming the World Series in 2017.

Canada's MLB team advanced to their initial World Series following 1993 by overcoming the Seattle Mariners in the final game seven of the ALCS.

Trailing 3-1, the star outfielder smashed a three-run blast in the seventh, propelling the only Canadian franchise in Major League Baseball to a 4-3 series win in the series. They will now face the Dodgers, the team that is the reigning title, in the forthcoming Fall Classic.

"I'm just so happy for our team, the city, the nation," Springer stated, a key player of the Astros team that claimed the 2017 World Series. "It's truly an incredible feeling."

The veteran has now connected for 23 post-season home runs, ranking him third in history after Ramirez (twenty-nine) and Altuve (27).

"There's probably not another player anywhere that I'd prefer in that situation except for George Springer with his October magic," noted manager John Schneider.

Seattle, despite leading the series 2-0 and 3-2, continue to be the sole team never to appear in a championship series.

Wilson said "without a doubt that it's going to sting" following his club's elimination at Rogers Centre, but commended their performance in the campaign.

"This is a unique group. Sadly that we had to come out on the losing end of the series," he continued.

Toronto's team claimed the World Series on both previous visits in 1992 and '93, and will host the Los Angeles in game one on this Friday.
